Under the directions of Major General Mahinda Mudalige RWP RSP ndu, General Officer Commanding of 24 Division, a full-day blood donation campaign was organized by the 24 Division in cooperation with Blood Banks of Ampara and Polonnaruwa in order to celebrate the 4th Anniversary of 24 Division on Tuesday 21 November 2017 at the Division Headquarters premises.\r\n \r\nThe campaign was commenced at 0830 hrs onward with the presence of General Officer Commanding 24 Division, Director of General Hospital Ampara, Dr PKC Lanka Jayasinghe, Blood Transfusion Service unit Ampara, Consultant Blood Bank Dr Hansa Ramanayake and his team consisting 4 doctors from Ampara , 2 doctors from Polonnaruwa Blood Bank and 29 other medical staff and also, Col Upul Weerakoon - Comd 242 Bde, Col Wipula Chandrasiri - Comd 241 Bde, Col Sisira Kumara - Col Coord (v) 24 Div and several others attended the opening occasion of the programme.\r\n\r\nMore than 450 Officers and Other Ranks voluntarily came forward to donate their blood during the campaign. 24 Division organized and provided snacks and refreshments to the blood donors and medical staff who came from Polonnaruwa and Ampara hospitals.\r\n\r\nThis programme will be an immense help to the majority of Muslim and Tamil people who are living in Ampara District. Director General Hospital Ampara and medical staff thanked the GOC and staff of the 24 division for organizing a successful event. \r\n
