A book donation conducted by 233 Infantry Brigade was successfully held in Vakarai area on Tuesday (21) under the coordination of the Commander 233 Infantry Brigade Colonel Wasantha Hewage. This was an initiative aimed at supporting education of our dear sons and daughters of the less privileged schools and it was conducted in line with the series of community-oriented welfare programmes organized by the Sri Lanka Army.
The Commander Security Force(East) Major General Lal Chandrasisi graced this event as the Chief Guest during his maiden field visit and highly commended the Brigade Commander and the troops of 233 Infantry Brigade for organizing this kind of an admirable charity event. The programme was underway with the supervision of the General Officer Commanding 23 Infantry Division Major General Nalin Koswatte. Book packs were distributed among needy students belong to Vakarai Maha Vidyalaya, Uriyankattu GTM School, Thaddumunai Vinayagar Vidyalaya, Kandalady Arunthathy Vidyalaya, Panichchanrerny Thirumagal Vidyalaya who are undergoing economic hardships in the area.
