Under the esteemed guidance of Major General WP Kariyawasam, General Officer Commanding of the 23 Infantry Division, an important lecture was conducted on 07 August 2024, at the Headquarters of the 23 Infantry Division. The primary focus of this lecture was to enhance awareness regarding the prevention of abuse towards women and children, using current social examples to highlight the issue.
The objective of the lecture was to educate the troops about various forms of abuse, including the abuse of minor children, violence against women, domestic violence, and the pertinent laws governing these issues.
A total of 08 x 140 troops participated in this enlightening session. The lecture was delivered by Inspector PoliceSamudra Nilanthi, the Officer in Charge of the Bureau for the Prevention of Abuse of Children & Women at the Valachchenai Police Station.
This initiative underscores the commitment of the 23 Infantry Division to fostering a safe and informed community, demonstrating a proactive approach to combating violence and abuse against vulnerable groups in society.
