The 23 Infantry Division proudly hosted its Aluth Avurudu Festival on 18 April 2025, bringing together officers, soldiers, their families, and members of the local community in a vibrant celebration of Sinhala and Tamil New Year traditions.
The festival, held at the Division Headquarters premises, featured a colorful display of culture, camaraderie, and traditional games.
Major General P. S. Subath Sanjeewa, RSP nps psc, the General Officer Commanding of the 23 Infantry Division, along with Brigade Commanders in the Area of Responsibility (AOR), graced the occasion.Highlights of the day included traditional games such as Wasana Mutti Bindeema, Kotta Pora, Avurudu Kumariya, Tug of War, Musical Chairs, and many more. Attendees also enjoyed traditional New Year sweets and food, lovingly prepared and shared among all ranks and guests.
Children and spouses of military personnel participated enthusiastically, showcasing their talents in dancing, singing, and traditional attire competitions.
The day concluded with an awards ceremony honoring the winners of the various competitions, leaving everyone with joyful memories and a strengthened sense of community.
