23 DIVISION EMERGED AS THE CHAMPIONS AT THE INTER DIVISION ATHLETICS MEET AT SECURITY FORCES EAST IN 2016
1. The Inter Division Athletics Meet of the Security Forces – (East) was held from 8th to 11th June 2016 at the Sports Complex of SF HQ (E). The main objective of the sports meet was to provide an opportunity to the sldrs serving under SFHQ (E) to show their talents and to expose them to the National / International level sports events.\r\n\r\n 2. The concluding ceremony of the SF (E) athletics meet was held on 11th June 2016 with many colourful events including a Drill Display, Band Display and a Drums solo. Major General KMU Wijeratne USP ndu the Commander, Security Forces – (East) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and three GOC s along with comd FMA were also presnt.\r\n\r\n 3. L/Cpl Alwis WPP of 3(V) SLAWC became the best female athlete whilst Pte Sanjeewa of 18 SLNG became the best male athlete with a new SFHQ (E) record in the High Jump event (1.82 m). 23 Division emerged as the Champions with 171 points and SFHQ (E) team became the runner up with 81 points. More than 250 athletes serving in the East participated at the Inter Division Athletics Meet representing SFHQ (E), 22 Division, 23 Division, 24 Division and FMA (E). Few Schools in the Eastern Province were given the opportunity to participate at the Sports Meet and they took part in 4×400 m relay male and female events.\r\n
