23 Infantry Division, Punani recently marked its 22nd year of national service after founding as a key military establishment that provided security specially to Batticaloa District and her populace. A series of commemorative segments including multi-religious observances were launched in the past few days on account of the 22nd anniversary.
Under the directions of Major General Kapila Udalupola RSP, General Officer Commanding 23 Infantry Division, a Kapruka Pooja and Bodhi Pooja were organized at Somawathiya Rajamaha Viharaya on 20 July 2019 and provided lunch for Thilakavathi Girls Orphanage, Kathiraveli on 21 July 2019.
The apex of the anniversary programme reached on the anniversary day (23) itself with military formalities by presenting a Guard of Honour to the General Officer Commanding and later planted a sapling at the premises in memory of the anniversary.
The General Officer Commanding posed for a group photograph and sat for a lunch in the same afternoon with all ranks at the camp premises to mark the 23 Infantry Division day.
