222 INFANTRY BRIGADE AND 22 VIJAYABAHU INFANTRY REGIMENT DISTRIBUTES RELIEF PACKS FOR PREGNANT WOMEN IN TRINCOMALEE

The troops of 222 Infantry Brigade and 22 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment of 22 Infantry Division under the Security Force Headquarters – East distributed essentials and relief packs among 13 needy pregnant women of Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim ethnicity in Serunuwara with the generous contribution of Dikkapitiya Somanantha Thero, the Chief Incumbent of Sri Pugngnavardhanarama Monastery, Dompe, Ganegoda and Sri Sarananda Monastery, Gampaha with the sponsorship of past pupils (95 Batch) of Mahanama Central College on Saturday (13).

According to the instructions given by Major General Channa Weerasuriya, the Commander of the Security Force Headquarters – East, the programme was organized by the troops of 222 Infantry Brigade and 22 VIR under the guidance of Major General Samantha Silva, General Officer Commanding of 22 Infantry Division.

13 pregnant women received dry ration packs and other essentials particularly required for a pregnant woman.

Colonel Wiraj Wimalasena, Commander 222 Infantry Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel Suranga Ramanayake Commanding Officer of 22 VIR, Officers, Other Ranks and Donors were present at the occasion.
