In a remarkable display of generosity and community spirit, the staff and students of Colombo International School, Kandy (CISK), donated books, stationery, sports equipment, and communication devices worth Rs. 400,000 to T/Erakkandi Sinhala MahaVidyalaya, Trincomalee, on 04 October 2025.
This meaningful initiative was coordinated by Brigadier E W R S B Ehelepola USP USACGSC, Commander of the 221 Infantry Brigade, together with Mrs. Anjalee Ehelepola, Head of the Business Department at CISK. Representing the school were Mr. Shankar Rajamani, Head of IAL, staff members, and a group of students guided by Mrs. VivekaPiyadigama, Acting Vice Principal, all committed to empowering children through education.
The event was a memorable occasion for the school and its surrounding community. Each student received a book pack for the upcoming academic year, along with sports and other essential items to enhance extracurricular activities. Adding to the generosity, the “Sapumal Society” of Pitakanda Road, Kandy, donated 50 school bags, which were also distributed among the students. The donation ceremony, organized by the 2 (V) Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment under the guidance of the CAO of the 221 Infantry Brigade, saw enthusiastic participation from students, parents, and teachers of T/Erakkandi Sinhala MahaVidyalaya.
Teachers and parents expressed their deep gratitude to CISK and the Sri Lanka Army for coordinating this noble gesture, emphasizing how the contributions would create new opportunities and strengthen the academic progress of their children. The warmth, unity, and sense of shared purpose throughout the programme highlighted the true power of solidarity in shaping a brighter future for the younger generation.
