In a gesture of goodwill and interfaith harmony, the Commander of the 221 Infantry Brigade, Col EWRSB Ehelepola USP USACGSC and MajGA Sithara, CO 2 (V) GR paid a courtesy call on the Bishop of Trincomalee, His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Christian Noel Emmanuel, at the Bishop’s House, recently.
The meeting focused on strengthening mutual understanding between the Sri Lanka Army and the local religious leadership, with special emphasis on promoting peace, reconciliation, and community welfare in the Trincomalee region. The Bishop warmly welcomed the Brigade Commander and commended the efforts of the Sri Lanka Army in maintaining security while extending support for civil society initiatives.
During the cordial discussion, both parties exchanged views on ongoing community outreach programs, youth engagement, and avenues for greater cooperation in humanitarian activities. The Brigade Commander reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to serving all communities impartially and respectfully, while supporting interreligious dialogue and harmony.
