22 INF DIV CONDUCTS A RAID ON ILLEGAL SAND MINING

During a special raid conducted by the troops of 22 Infantry Division in General area Trincomalee on 26 Sep 2020, troops with police apprehended 144 x persons engaged in illegal sand mining, along with 04 x tipper trucks, 15 x tractors, 13 x motor bikes, 26 x shovels and 62 x buckets. Apprehended persons, vehicles and equipment were and handed over to the Mutur, Kinniya and Serunuwara Police Stations.

As per the directions given by the General Officer Commandig 22 Infantry Division, Major General C D Weerasuriya RWP RSP ndu and with the supervision of 222 and 223 Brigade Commanders, 02 x 36 troops of 15 SLLI, 02 x 40 troops of 22 VIR and 1 x Squadron of 4 SF, conducted the raid in order to curb the illegal sand mining in the general areas of Samagipura, Kandalkadu and Neelapola.
