Under the theme “ Let’s Defat Diabetes” Sri Lanka Diabete’s Federations and Lions Club 306 jointly organized a 310 Km Diabetes walk, Commenced at Hindu Cultural Center Ground, Trincomalee on 19 Monday. Wending its way through Dambulla, Kandy, Mavanella, Kotiyakumbura, Hanwella and concluding at Battaramulla Diyatha Uyana. During the walk conducting Diabetes awareness program for the general public. Meanwhile, the conducted Health camp is great opportunity for the general public to upgrade their knowledge of Diabetes and its complications.
Around 60 soldiers of the 22 Division Headquarters, 221 Brigade and 5 (V) SLAWC actively took part in the Diabetes walk first day. as a response to a request made by the Lions Club Project chairperson Lion Wasantha Gamage from the General Officer Commanding Maj Gen KPA Jayasekara WWV RSP USP ndc psc.
More than 250 people participated in the walk Trincomalee Including members of Lions Clubs. School Children, Officials from Trinco bassed organizations and Civilians. Religious Dignitaries, General Officer Commanding 22 Division Maj Gen KPA Jayasekara, DIG Trincomalee Mr. Nimal Perera, Addl Govt Agent Mr. S Arulrasa, Lions District 306 CI District Governor Rupa Dheerasingha, SLDF President Dr. Prasad Katulanda, Several Senior Army and Police officers participated for the inaugural occasions of the walk.
