22 Division footballers secured victory in the Security Force - East Inter Division Football Finals - 2018 defeating 23 Division team for 3 to 0, held at the 22 Division grounds in Trincomalee on Wednesday (13).
Both teams played aggressively from the beginning of the match and posed threats by attacking the opponent’s goal. 22 Division, not to be outdone, kept the opponents at bay by foiling all the efforts of scoring opportunities through their defence and found solace at the second half when they scored three goals.
It was organized by the Headquarters 22 Division under the directions of the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 22 Division, Major General W A N M Weerasinghe RSP USP ndc and under the supervision of the Commander, 221 Brigade, Brigadier D P U Gunasekera RWP USP IG.
Major General K P A Jayasekara WWV RSP USP ndc psc, Commander, Security Force - East, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and awarded certificates and trophies to the winners.
General Officer Commanding 24 Division Major General L M Mudalige RWP RSP , distinguished invitees, Senior Officers and Other Ranks witnessed the final match.
