Under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces (East), Major General P. R. Pathiravithana, USAWC psc, and the close supervision of the General Officer Commanding 22 Infantry Division, the civil-military activities in the Eastern theatre were conducted by the 20th Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment under the command of the 221 Infantry Brigade. They organized the blood donation programme on 26 May 2025.
The battalion collaborated with the Medical Team of the Cluster Blood Bank, Trincomalee, whose professional support enabled the efficient collection and handling of blood donations. The programme resulted in the collection of a remarkable 90 units of blood, contributing significantly to the national blood reserve and potentially saving many lives. A total of 90 personnel voluntarily participated to donate blood, showcasing a strong sense of social responsibility and solidarity.
Among the donors were 10 soldiers from the 1st Battalion of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, 15 sailors from Sri Lanka Navy Ship Ranweli, and civilian staff members of the 20th Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment. This event stands as a testament to the Sri Lanka Army’s continued commitment to community service and its role in supporting national healthcare needs.
