207 NEW RECRUITS PASS OUT FROM SRI LANKA ARMY RECRUITS TRAINING CENTER IN HENANIGALA

A formal ceremony, held at the “Sri Lanka Army Recruits Training Center” in Henanigala awarded formal colours to a batch of 207 new recruits during the Passing out Parade at the Training Center premises, On Saturday (17).

Commander, Security Forces - East, Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi at the invitation of the Commandant in the Training Center Lieutenant Colonel Hasitha Welikanna attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest. On his arrival, he was warmly received by the Commandant and accorded a Guard Turnout at the entrance of the Training Center by the troops of the Recruits Training Center.

After completion of their basic 6-month long training in the Course No - 37, those 207 recruits, attached to Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Gajaba Regiment and Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment received their colours during the ceremony. Physical training and band displays at the venue coloured the ceremony attended by a large crowd of parents, relatives and well-wishers of those recruits.

Following Officers and recruits received special awards under different categories as follows;

Best Platoon Commander-O/11328 2nd Lieutenant BMCD Jayasundara of Sri Lanka National Guard, Best Platoon Sergeant - S/470861Sergeant Pushpakumara HDI , Best Section Commander – Corporal Jayakodi JDS ,Best Physical Training Instructor - Corporal Somarathna MMS ,Best Shot - Recruit Wikramarathna MPTA, Best Fittest Soldier - Recruit Kumara YMSP and Best Recruit - Recruit Nishan MPL.

Furthermore, the 6-month long basic training (from 06 June 2022 to 17 December 2022) saw the recruits receiving training in drills, field craft, basic tactics, physical training, map reading, and sports, etc. under a team of instructors, including the Chief Instructor, Major Gayan Herath, Regimental Sergeant Majors, Drill Instructors, and Chief Physical Training Instructor.

With the participated of Recruit Training Coordinating Officer (CO-RTCC) Colonel Aruna Malandeniya and Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, parents, relatives and friends of those new recruits’ distinguished invitees graced the occasion.
