In celebration of World Children’s Day 2024, the 20th Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment, under the direction of the Commander of Security Forces Headquarters (East), and instructions of Major General U.K.D.D.P Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc, Commander of the 22 Infantry Division, organized a community outreach event on 1 October 2024 at Paranamedawachchiya Vidyalaya with the participation of 77 students.
The initiative was supervised by Brigadier R.K.A.R.P Rathnayake RSP USP psc, Commander of the 221 Infantry Brigade.
The event was closely overseen by Major W.W.N.C Waduge RWP RSP USP, Commanding Officer of the 20th Battalion, Gajaba Regiment.
Mrs. P. Korathota, a Colombo-based donor, and the Sanasa Bank of Padavi Sripura generously sponsored the programme.
Activities included tree planting, the distribution of school equipment and uniforms, an entertainment session, and lunch for both students and participants. Sponsors, parents, and a team of 3 Officers and 40 Other Ranks from the 20th Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment helped to organize the entertainment sessions, cooking lunch and distributing meals.
The dedicated support of all ensured the smooth and successful execution of the event.
