In a commendable display of civic responsibility and humanitarian service, the 11(V) Battalion of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment successfully organized a blood donation programme on 19 June 2025 in Batticaloa.
The initiative was carried out under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces (East), Major General P. R. Pathiravithana, USAWC psc, and was closely supervised by the General Officer Commanding of the 24 Infantry Division. The 11(V) Battalion of the Sinha Regiment, deployed under the 243 Infantry Brigade, conducted the programme as part of broader civil-military cooperation efforts aimed at strengthening ties between the military and the civilian population in the Eastern theatre.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from both military personnel and civilians, reflecting a shared commitment to supporting the healthcare needs of the region. The blood units collected are expected to significantly bolster the regional blood bank supplies, providing critical support to patients in urgent need of transfusions.
Such initiatives underscore the Sri Lanka Army’s continued dedication to national service beyond its security mandate, playing a vital role in community welfare and emergency preparedness.
