To coincide with the ongoing National Marine Resources Conservation Week and the International Costal Cleanup Day - 2022 (24 September), troops of the 11 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment launched beach cleaning programme covering the Kaththankudy coastal area, littered with discarded wrappers, polythene, plastic bottles, empty beer cans, empty liquor bottles, etc.
This beach cleaning programme was organized under the guidance of the Commander 231 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Dilupa Bandara with the support of the civilians living in Kaththankudy area in order to creating an attitudinal awakening of the general public and make them recognize the value of coastal and marine resources while attracting community contribution for beach cleanup efforts.
