The 231 Inf Bde raised on 20 August 1995 as 522 Inf Bde in MEESALAI under SFHQ (J) AOR. With the rapid development of Sri Lanka Army and the operational commitment sit was shifted to NUNAVIL are a and deployed from 21 April 1996 to 31 July 1997.Subsequently it was shifted and deployed at CHAWAKACHCHERI from 01 August 1997 to 23 August 1998,KODIKAMAM from 24 August 1998 to 20 July 2000, MEESALAI from 21July 2000 to 20 Nov 2000,CHAWA from 21 Nov 2000 to 12 Nov 2001,SARASALEI from 13 Nov 2001 to 07 Aug 2002,KODIKAMAM from 08 Aug 2002 to11 Dec 2002,MEESALAINORTH from 12 Dec 2002 to 18 Jan 2011,MIRUSUVIL from 19 Jan 2011 to 08 June 2013 and VILATHTHAPALEI from09June2013to 13Dec2022as pertheoperationalrequirements atthat time.
Then the 522 Inf Bde deployed at HINGURAKGODA under SFHQ(E) AOR in accordance to the suppression of the Army and re-designated as 234 Inf Bde on 14 Dec 2022.Later it was a mended as 231 Inf Bde on 07 July 2023.
