Mrs. Dhanusha weerasuriya assumed duties as the President of Seva Vanitha Branch, Mechanized Infantry Regiment on 06 January 2022 at the Regimental Centre, Sri Lanka Light Infantry - Panagoda.
Vice President Mrs. Nayana Balachandra and Secretary Mrs. Nilanthi Wanasinghe warmly welcomed upon her arrival.
The newly appointed President was formally briefed the past, present, future scheduled activities and welfare matters of the Seva Vanita Branch by Senior Members. The Centre Commandant, Brigadier Kumara Wanasinghe RSP USP and few Officers were present at the occasion.

The Mechanized Infantry Regiment conducted the Field Firing on 27th and 28th October 2021 at Kalpitiya Air Force Field Firing Range after 7 years. The Mechanized Infantry Regiment is the youngest fighting Regiment in the Sri Lanka Army and is equipped with sophisticated military equipment, including Infantry Combat Vehicles and Armoured Personnel Carriers, to conduct operations in specific forms which cannot be accomplished by other forms of forces.

Centre Commandant, Brigadier W M S C K Wanasinghe RSP USP and Commander - Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Brigadier B P G K Balasooriya RSP psc were present at the occasion.

Brigadier B P G K Balasooriya RSP psc assumed duties as the 12 Commander Mechanized Infantry Brigade on 12 August 2021 of the Headquarter Mechanized Infantry Brigade.
The Commander Mechanized infantry Brigade was warmly received upon his arrival by Lieutenant Colonel R M H B Rathnayaka RSP USP psc CO 3 MIR, Lieutenant Colonel R A S R Ranasinghe USP psc CO 4 MIR, Lieutenant Colonel E R A Silva CO 5(V) MIR and the brigade staff.
Adhering to the health guidelines, the formal military ceremony was commenced soon after the guard turnout at the entrance. Afterwards, he planted a sapling before assuming duties.
Later, he placed his signature for a formal document for assuming duties amidst simply arranged religious observances to signify the acceptance of the new office and addressed the Officers and Other Ranks of the Brigade and conveyed his views and guidance.
