BID FAREWELL TO COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT OF THE MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENT

Formal farewell ceremony for Major General Priyanka Fernando RWP USP was held on 05 December 2021 at the Regimental Centre, Mechanized Infantry Regiment - Dambuluhalmillawewa.

The Colonel of the Regiment was warmly welcomed upon his arrival by Brigadier Kumara Wanasinghe RSP USP - Centre Commandant, Mechanized Infantry Regiment along with Regimental Council Members.

The formal military farewell ceremony was commenced soon after the guard turnout at the entrance. After that, paid his tribute to the fallen war heroes at the war heroes monument. After that, he was greeted with the guard of honour and invited for a troops address.

In parallel to the event he was invited to open the newly constructed Medical Inspection Room, Regimental Library and Open Air Theatre on the day of farewell.

Thereafter, he was invited for the lunch hosted by the Regiment and he kept his praiseworthy remarks on the Visitors’ Book.

Finally, after conveying best wishes for future prospects to the Regiment, he was offered with salute by all Officers and Other Ranks in a street line in order to appreciate the dedicated service rendered as the 12th Colonel of the Regiment.
