The Mechanized Infantry Regiment Inter Battalion Indoor Rowing championship was held on 18th, 19th and 20th June 2018 at the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre. The event was organized under the close supervision of Commanding Officer, 4 Mechanized Infantry Lt Col H A A N C Prabhath RSP USP. Commander, 532 Brigade - Brigadier A G D N Jayasundera RWP RSP graced the occasion as the Chief Guest for the final day. The Centre Commandant Colonel S J Priyadarshana RWP RSP USP with many other senior officers of Mechanized Infantry Regiment attended for the event. After the competitive games 4 Mechanized Infantry won the championship of Inter Battalion Indoor Rowing championship and 2 Mechanized Infantry became as runners up.

The Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre conducted its second Officers' Training Day session for the year 2018 at the Regimental Centre Dambuluhalmillawewa on 11 May 2018 under the guidance of the Colonel of the Regiment, Major General M K D Perera RWP RSP USP ndu.

Lieutenant Colonel D M M Dissanayake RWP took over duties as the Commanding Officer of 3 Mechanized Infantry on 07th May 2018. The new Commanding Officer was greeted with the Guard Turnout on arrival at the entrance to the 3 Mechanized Infantry. After, officially taking over duties at his office with religious blessings, he planted a sapling to symbolize the acceptance of the duties. Thereafter, he addressed all Officers and Other Ranks of the Battalion and emphasized on carrying out the responsibilities by each individual to achieve the goals. Later he visited the camp area and inspected the routine works.

The Sinhala and Hindu New Year Festival was Celebrated by the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre with participation of the residents of Dambulu Halmillawewa and neighbouring villagers at the Dambulu Halmillawewa School Ground on 09th April 2018. Major General Kumudu Perera, Colonel of the Regiment and Commander Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni) graced the event as the Chief Guest. The event was ceremonially declared open with the hoisting of National flag and lightening of the traditional oil lamp.

Major General M K D Perera RWP RSP USP ndu assumed office as the 8th Colonel of the Regiment of Mechanized Infantry Regiment on 27 March 2018. The Colonel of the Regiment honoured with a formal Guard Turnout at the main entrance of the Regimental Centre. At the auspicious time, Colonel of the Regiment placed his signature for a formal document to signify the acceptance of duties and responsibilities of the appointment in the presence of Centre Commandant, Brigade Commander, other senior officers, all Commanding Officers and staff of the Regimental Centre after a brief religious observances and lighting of the traditional oil lamp.

Colonel L S balachandra RSP took up the reins of Commander Mechanized Infantry Brigade amid religious blessings and cheerful gathering at the Mechanized Infantry Brigade on 06 Feb 2018. Newly appointed Brigade Commander was warmly welcomed by the General Staff Officer I, Lt Col B P G K Balasooriya RSP psc and the formal Guard Turnout was presented by the troops of mechanized Infantry Brigade at the entrance.

The Officers' Family Get-together 2017 was held at the Officers' Mess premises on 30 December 2017. The Colonel of the Regiment Major General Ruwan Kulatunga graced the occasion as the Chief Guest along with the Commander Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Brig Shantha Herath, the Centre Commandant Colonel Udaya Herath and other senior Officers/Officers along with their families. All participants were gifted with a valuable hamper.

The first Training session was held on 19 August 2015 and the second session was held on 06 January 2016 at the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Headquarters with the participation of 96 Officers\' as per the directions given by the Army Headquarters. Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen AM Perera RWP RSP psc articipated the event and addressed all officers during his opening remarks stating the importance of officers' training day.
The 'Training Day' commenced with Physical Training and Drill sessions. After that, the group presentation was conducted by officers of 1st Battalion the Mechanized Infantry Regiment under topics of & "Modern Concept of the Mechanized Infantry and Its applicability to Sri Lanka".
