  • VISIT OF THE COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT TO 1ST BATTALION SLLI

    Quarter Master General of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Light Infantry and Overlooking Director General General Staff Major General GMN Perera RWP RSP USP ndc, on 2nd April 2024 made an official visit to 1st Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry after assuming the duties of the Colonel of the Regiment Sri Lanka Light Infantry.

  • 71ST ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF SRI LANKA LIGHT INFANTRY ASSOCIATION - 2024

    The Sri Lanka Light Infantry Association, established on 17 December 1945 under the leadership of General Sir John Kotelawala, which is the oldest military association of the Sri Lanka Army. Further its 71st Annual General Meeting was held on 30th March 2024 at the Regimental Center. It was held with the participation of a large number of retired officers and soldiers. Major General Ranjith de Silva (Rtd) RWP RSP VSV USP psc graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

  • BATTALIONS VISIT OF THE COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT

    17th Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment Major General GMN Perera RWP RSP USP ndc traditionally visited the Battalions after assuming the duties of the Colonel of the Regiment. As the First stage, he has visited the Battalions of 3 SLLI, 4 SLLI, 6 SLLI, 7 SLLI, 10 SLLI, 12 SLLI, 15 SLLI, 19 SLLI, and 9 (V) SLLI, 17 (V) SLLI Battalions on 22nd, 23rd and 24th on March 2024.

  • SLLI's New Colonel of the Regiment Assumes Responsibilities

    Major General G.M.N Perera RWP RSP USP ndc assumed office as the new Colonel of the Regiment in the Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) during a simple ceremony, amidst religious observances and military formalities on 16 January at the SLLI Regimental Centre, Panagoda.

  • SLLI Honours to Outgoing Colonel of the Regiment

    The Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Regimental HQ bid farewell to Outgoing Colonel of the Regiment Major General S.R.K Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc during a special ceremony on 14 January. The sequence of events commenced with the ceremonial Guard Turnout, followed by a ceremonial Parade and a floral tribute to the SLLI War Heroes monument. Subsequently, outgoing Senior Officer addressed the Officers and Other Ranks of SLLI.

    Sri Lanka Light Infantry - Seva Vanitha Branch (SLLI-SVB) welcomed its newest addition to the Regimental Centre at Panagoda, the Galent Seva Vanitha Welfare Shop, on Wednesday (10 January).

  • SLLI Seva Vanitha Branch Inaugurates ‘Gallant Bar Snacks’

    The Sri Lanka Light Infantry Seva Vanitha Branch (SLLI-SVB) initiated ‘Gallant Bar Snacks’ project on 26 October 2023 to raise funds to enhance the welfare projects further, following the conceptual layout of Mrs. Uthpala Hettiarachchi, the Chairperson, SLLI-SVB.

  • CELEBRATING 142 YEARS OF PRIDE AND 'ABIMANMUDUNATHA' WAR HEROES CELEBRATION - 2023

    The Sri Lanka light Infantry Regiment, the oldest regiment of the Sri Lanka Army, which has a deep history, celebrated its proud 142nd anniversary on 23rd October 2023 in a very festive manner, and concurrently on 28.10.2023, the “ABIMANMUDUNATHA'' war hero's monument. A ceremony was held to commemorate the war heroes.

  • SLLI Regimental HQ Bids Farewell to Retiring Brigadier

    The Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Regimental Headquarters at Panagoda on 23 June 2023 hosted a farewell parade to bid goodbye to one of its proud Senior Officers, Brigadier T.C.K Peiris RWP RSP who were to retire after a dedicated service of more than three decades.

  • SLLI’s House Construction for Own Soldiers Continues

    The Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment (SLLI) constructed one more house for a deserving SLLI soldier and formally warmed it during a ceremony at Kalutara on 26 May 2023. The project as a suggestion made by Major General C.D Weerasuriya RWP RSP ndu, Chief of Staff and Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Light infantry Regiment entrusted the responsibility of constructing a house for a homeless soldier at each unit level under three phases. The new house, built at Kalutara, Bandaragama was accordingly received by a deserving Non-Commissioned Officer of the 8 SLLI Regiment who has been serving the Army for more than 17 years. He is married and blessed with two kids. Troops of the 8 SLLI on the directions of the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel I.A.L Ileperuma RWP RSP USP provided their manpower, engineering and technical skills for construction of the new house.
