Maj Gen Jagath Kodihuwakku RWP RSP ndu the present Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) assumed the office as the 60th Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army on Wednesday 08th June 2022 at the Army Headquarters Battaramulla. Upon his entry into the premises, he signed an official document symbolizing the assumption of office after the traditional Buddhist religious observances. Centre Commandant of SLLI, Staff Officers of the Regimental Headquarters SLLI and the office of the Chief of Staff joined the occasion.

The Sri Lanka Light Infantry Seva Vanitha Branch has organized a Dhamma Sermon on the occasion of Wesak Poya day. The Damma Sermon was organized to wish nirvana to the fallen war heroes, to wish speedy recovery for the members of SLLI who are under treatment due to Wounded in Action and to wish good health and blessings for the active members, civil servants in SLLI and their family members.

The Sri Lanka Army Association was established on 17 December 1945 under the leadership of Sir General Sir John Kotelawala and is currently the oldest military association in the Sri Lanka Army. Its Annual General Conference was held on 19 March 2022 at the Regiment Center with the participation of a large number of its members, including retired officers.

Newly constructed Galant Drinking Water Bottle Project in the Ingiriya Infantry Valley Premises was Inaugurated by the Deputy Chief of Staff, The Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Light Infantry Maj Gen TJ Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu on 12th January 2022 and it was ceremonially handed over to Mrs. Shiromala Kodithuwakku, Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Sri Lanka Infantry. It was built under the full supervision, guidance and manpower contribution of the Sri Lanka Infantry Regiment Center. Senior Officers of the Council, Centre Commandant, Senior Staff Officers and Senior members of the Seva Vanitha Branch joined the occasion.

The first General Meeting of the Seva Vanitha branch year 2022 was held on 23.01.2022 at 1500hr at the Officers’ Residence, Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment Center under the patronage of the Hon. Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Infantry Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs. Shiromala Kodithuwakku. The Hon. Vice Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Branch, the Hon. Secretary and other senior members participated in the meeting. The relevant general meeting was held in accordance with the health laws and regulations imposed on the current epidemic of Covid 19 in the country.

Sri Lanka Light Infantry bade farewell to Brig WP Wijayarathna with a formal farewell ceremony, held at the SLLI Regimental Centre premises at Panagoda on 15 January 2022 while complying with the COVID 19 safety regulations. Farewell formalities commenced with a ceremonial Guard turnout in compliance with military traditions, subsequently he paid a visit to the SLLI war hero monument and made a floral tribute to the brave combatants who made the supreme sacrifice for the freedom of the nation.
