The noble concept of the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army and Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI), Major General YABM Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, and the Chairperson of the SLLI Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs Darshanee Yahampath, a memorial charity event took place at the Atamasthana in Anuradhapura on 1 August 2025, to commemorate and pay tribute to the unmarried heroic soldiers of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment who sacrificed their lives for protecting the sovereignty of the country the event war held with the participation of parents and family members of the fallen war heroes.

The Poson full moon poya day in 236 BC marked a deeply significant event in Sri Lankan history as the arrival of Arahant Mahinda Thero and his retinue of Dhamma messengers, bearing the sacred teachings of the Gautama Buddha, was taken place. This historic moment laid the foundation for the flourishing of the Sambuddha Sasana (Buddha’s Dispensation) in Sri Lanka.
