BRIGADIER MGANB MAHATHUWAKKARA RWP RSP ndc AWARDED WITH FINAL SALUTE ON HIS RETIREMENT BY THE TROOPS OF SLLI

A ceremony was held on 09 May 2025 at the Regimental Centre Sri Lanka Light Infantry to pay tribute to Brigadier MGANB Mahathuwakkara RWP RSP ndc in honour of his retirement following 36 years of exemplary and devoted service to the Sri Lanka Army.

This Senior Officer has rendered his excellent service for the Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Light Infantry by holding many positions of command, staff and instructor appointments in different areas of Sri Lanka. Farewell formalities commenced with a ceremonial guard turnout and a ceremonial parade in compliance with military traditions. Afterward he paid a visit to the SLLI War Heroes’ Monument and made a floral tribute to the brave combatants who made the supreme sacrifice for the freedom of the nation. Subsequently, a group photograph was taken with the Officers, in which his presence was noted. Senior Officer addressed Officers and Other Ranks and shared some of his experiences gained during the distinguished career and followed by All Ranks tea party organized in the Corporals' Club. Council members, Centre Commandant and the Staff Officers of the RHQ SLLI, Senior Officers and Officers participated for the event in paying respect for the retiring Senior Officer.
