With the leadership of Colonel of the Regiment, Major General KADA Karunasekara RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, Pabala Mela - 2017 Carnival and Trade Exhibition started at Hikkaduwa public Ground on 23 Dec 17 and runs up to 24 Dec 17. Maj Gen JR Kulatunga RSP ndc psc graced the occasion as the chief guest. Council members of the Regiment, Centre Commandant Brig MM Kithsiri RWP RSP USP, Deputy Center Commandant Lt Col DAK Dissanayake WWV RWP RSP, Senior Officers, Officers along with NCOS and their also attended for the opening event.Seeduwa Sakura entertained the huge crowd whilst professional singer started singing Songs expanding joyness and glammer.

As the Chief Guest, Major General KADA Karunasekara RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Light Infantry Declared Open Pabala Mela Trade Exhibition and Carnival on 24 Dec 17.Over and above, he emphasized to improve the welfare facilities of the disabled, unable, and serving soldiers of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment.Parallel to the Pabala Mela 2017 and having identifying the basic needs in the area in Hikkaduwa, one of a newly constructed bus halt was opened in Hikkaduwa Baddegama road. Also, newly constructed house for a powerless old citizen was donated by the Col of the Regt same day.Huge crowd with their families were entertained by the Sanidapa through the carnival period.

Officers and their family annual get-together, Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment was held in the Regimental Officers mess on 30th December 2017. Major General K A D A Karunasekara RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, the Colonel of the Regiment of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment graced the occasion as the chief guest. The Mrs. Dananjani Karunasekara the President of the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment extended goodwill during the gathering.The welcomed Officers along with families were taken in to the family photograph before presenting the welcome gift. 4 SLLI musical group orchestrated other than beat group.\r\n\r\nDuring the movement of the joyness, ladies entertained with game of pillow passing when children were committed by air rifle firing, dart playing, and jumping in the bouncer. Comedic actor Mahinda Pathirage and Eric Abewardhana also entertained the occasion.
