Hon. Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, Patali Champika Ranawaka paid tribute to the memory of fallen war heroes at the Regimental War Heroes monument on 19 May 2016. This programme was organized by War Heroes Memorial Foundation and facilitated by Sri Lanka Light Infantry.

Expressing our solidarity to the plight our citizens have faced due to flood, the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Seva Vanitha Branch responded to flood victims in Wellampitiya, Kelaniya, Kelanimulla and Hanwella by providing 6000 hot meal parcels, 2000 drinking water bottles and 250 readymade garments on 19 and 20 May 2016.
Giving the true meaning of Vesak, Seva Vanitha Branch cancelled the \"Vesak dansela\" and made their contribution for the needy fellow citizens. Further, Seva Vanitha Branch extended its gratitude to the Commanding Officers and All Ranks of SLLI battalions for the good deeds in providing fresh and dry rations.

Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment accorded military salute to Maj Gen WDLP Wickramasinghe RSP KSV, first ever Volunteer Maj Gen of Sri Lanka Light Infantry, who has retired after 35 years of honourable service, during a formal military ceremony at Regimental centre Sri Lanka Light Infantry on 28 May 2016. He was welcomed at the main gate with a Guard Turnout and subsequently a Guard of Honour with Regimental Colours presented by troops, saluted Maj Gen WDLP Wickramasinghe RSP KSV at the parade ground. After military honours, he reviewed the parade and he was accompanied by Brig ALSK Perera RSP USP ndu in accordance with military traditions.

Sri Lanka Light Infantry Seva Vanitha branch lent a helping hand to a war hero by organizing an artificial limb donation to Corporal Rathnayake EASK from RHQ Bn on 30 May 2016 at RHQ SLLI. This artificial limb was donated by Mrs Sarojani Ranasinghe, beloved wife of late veteran lyricist Dr Ajantha Ranasinghe to commemorate his birthday at the request of veteran singer Mrs Sujatha Aththanayaka. Deputy Centre Commandant, Colonel GMN Perera RWP RSP and other Staff Officers of RHQ SLLI attended to this event.

The construction of stupa is considered acts of great merit. Therefore, we are extremely fortunate, unbelievably fortunate that we were able to build a stupa and it gave us an incredible opportunity to accumulate merits. On 05 Aug 16, a formal religious ceremony was held at the temple premises, RHQ SLLI to enshrine Omniscient Sacred Relics and placing of the Pinnacle for the newly built stupa at the auspicious time. The Relics Casket including silver plates with engraved Suttas along with Gini Piritha and Wehi Piritha were enshrined in the Relic Chamber. Accordingly, Sacred Relics obtained from several Buddhist temples and unused sacred objects placed within the dome after the overnight pirith chanting held on 04 Aug 16 to invoke blessings.The temple at RHQ SLLI was built by Lt Gen HV Athukorale (retd) VSV psc FBIM on 12 May 1975 and it has been renovated recently.

On 09th August 2016, Hon. President of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Seva Vanitha Branch Mrs. Dananjani Karunasekara donated Rs. 100,000 to the son of S/316533 L/Cpl Bannaka BMASK (8 SLLI) who is suffering with hearing problem from his birth.

Colonel of the Regiment, Major General KADA Karunasekara RSP VSV USP ndu psc handed over Rs 580,000.00 worth of land title deed to a civil employee, Mr. A. Priyantha Kumara de Silva. This was organized by the Seva Vanitha branch of Sri Lanka Light Infantry.

Lt Gen Wee, Seung Ho, President of Korean National Defence University (KNDU), Lt Col (Professor) Son, Kyengho and Lt Lim, Yeon Hyung visited the Regimental Centre of Sri Lanka Light Infantry on 3 Oct 16. Col AS Wickramasena RWP RSP USP psc received the delegation on behalf of the Col of the Regt SLLI.

The deafening sounds of combat had given way to the silence. The chaos and confusion of battle had yielded perfect, precise rows of peace. SLLI Fallen Heroes Memorial Ceremony was held on 22 Oct 16 to honour the brave Officers and Soldiers who died while in service to our grateful nation. More than 2500 family members of fallen heroes gathered in front of the SLLI war heroes monument with the pride and tears.
