OCDC celebrated this year's State Poson Festival as a low-key celebration under the theme of 'Health is the Greatest Wealth’. The event was commemorated with the participation of limited number of participants including senior and junior officers including other ranks at the camp premises. The camp premise was decorated with Vesak lanterns and colourful illuminations. A replica of Mihinthalawa Rock put up in the camp premises, depicting the arrival of Arahath Mahinda Thero to Sri Lanka back then and it was one of the main attractions among all decorations. The day’s proceedings were ended with a Dharma Sermon held at the camp temple; ‘Prangna Vihara’ by following the government health safty guidelines.

Col TCMGST Cooray RWP RSP USP psc assumed duties as the Chief Instructor of OCDC Buttala on 15 May 2020 as the 7th CI of OCDC. A simple ceremony of religious observances was held to obtain blessings before symbolically taking up the appointment. Amidst religious observances, the new Chief Instructor, placed his signature on an official document, symbolising the formal acceptance of the office at the auspicious minute.
