The handing over ceremony of the newly constructed Outdoor Classroom at PL/Walikanda National School was successfully held on 27 October 2025.
The occasion was graced by the presence of Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and Colonel Commandant, Sri Lanka Artillery, together with Major General JSBW Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc, Commander, Security Forces (East) and Colonel of the Regiment, Sri Lanka National Guard.
Also in attendance were Brigadier KPP karunanayaka, Brigadier General Staff, SFHQ (East), Brigadier Projects, Brigadier Coordination (Volunteer), Commander, 233 Infantry Brigade, and other senior officers of the Sri Lanka Army. The Principal, teachers, and students of the school warmly participated in this special event.
The Outdoor Classroom project was generously donated by Mrs Sureka Gardner, whose valuable contribution and support were instrumental in the successful completion of this initiative.
The ceremony symbolized the continued commitment of the Sri Lanka Army towards strengthening civil–military cooperation and enhancing educational facilities within local communities.
