20TH BATTALION OF THE GAJABA REGIMENT PROVIDE ASSISTANCE FOR THE KATINA PINKAMA AT THE RANMADUWA RAJA MAHAVIHARAYA IN PARANA MEDAWACHCHIYA

On the instruction of the General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division and the Commander, 221 Infantry Brigade, members of the 20th Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment contributed to the Katina Pinkama at the Parana medawachchiya Rangmaduwa Rajamaha Viharaya on 17th and 18th October 2025.

This religious program was initiated by the Maha Sangha on 17th October 2025, as per the instruction of the Chief Venerable Kandegedara Sudhamma thero. A timely sermon was delivered by the Maha Sangha on 17th October 2025. The following day, morning and afternoon alms were offered to twenty-five members of the Maha Sangha, along with eight alms offerings.

Under the supervision and direction of the Commanding Officer of the 20th Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Rohana Ekanayake RWP RSP psc GR, the unit’s contribution provided for the cleaning of the temple grounds, the raising of the Umbrella for the monks who took part in the Katina Pinkama, the preparation of alms and the final grand procession from 10th to 18th October 2025, in conjunction with the series of festivals.

Furthermore, local monks and temple devotees participated in this program, and around 500 local devotees participated in the Katina Pinkama and procession.
