Commander Security Forces (East), Major General P. R. Pathiravithana, USAWC psc, and the close supervision of the General Officer Commanding of the 22 Infantry Division, the 20th Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment, deployed under the 221 Infantry Brigade, successfully organized a community welfare program on 12 April 2025 at the Battalion Headquarters, 13th Mile Post – Pulmoddai, as part of the Civil-Military Coordination Program.
With the financial support of Mr. Sameera Gunarathne, a Sri Lankan resident in Australia, coordinated by the Commander of the 221 Infantry Brigade, dry rations worth over Rs. 5,000 were distributed to pregnant mothers from low-income families residing in the Paranamedawachchiya and Thennamaramwadiya Grama Niladhari Divisions, which fall under the area of responsibility of the Battalion.
To ensure the success of this welfare initiative, three officers, 20 other ranks, a Public Health Midwife, pregnant mothers, and their family members participated in the event. The program concluded with lunch provided for all participants.
