THE NEWLY APPOINTED SECURITY FORCES (EAST) COMMANDER ASSUMES THE DUTIES

Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP psc of the Sri Lanka Artillery assumed duties as the new Commander of the Security Forces (East) following military formalities and religious blessings at the Security Forces Headquarters (East) premises on Thursday, 09 December 2024.

The newly appointed Commander was warmly welcomed and accorded a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour by the troops of the Sri Lanka Artillery, in line with military traditions, upon his arrival at the premises.

After the formal military honours, the new Commander of the Security Forces (East) auspiciously assumed duties amidst religious observances and placed his signature on an official document to signify the acceptance of his new office. To mark the occasion, the senior officer planted a sapling and posed for a group photograph.

Later, the Commander addressed the troops, thanking all officers and other ranks, including the Commanders, for their dedication to the security and progress of the Eastern Region. He emphasized the importance of respecting the responsibilities of others, performing duties with a correct understanding, and fostering seniority, discipline, and professional skills in their respective roles.

He further highlighted the noble responsibility of providing security to over 2.3 million people spread across four districts under the purview of the Security Forces Headquarters (East). The Commander also underscored the importance of protecting the population from natural disasters and encouraged the troops to work towards achieving common goals for the region. He shared his vision and outlined the objectives for the Eastern Region’s security and development.

The event was attended by the General Officer Commanding 22,23 and 24 Infantry Divisions, Commander Logistics Command (East), Brigade Commanders, Senior Staff Officers of Security Forces Headquarters (East), Commanding Officers, Officers, other ranks, and civilian staff.
