The World Cleanup Day 2025 programme was successfully conducted on 25 September 2025 in collaboration with the 23 Infantry Division and the International Campus of Science and Technology (ICST) University, Punani.
The event was graced by the Major General Janaka Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc - Commander, Security Forces (East), together with the Professor Sriyani Wickramasinghe - Vice Chancellor of ICST University, Punani and the Major General Priyanga Kulathilaka ndc - General Officer Commanding, 23 Infantry Division.
More than 250 Army personnel, 400 university students, and community volunteers took part in the large-scale road cleaning campaign along both sides of the A-11 Road from Navallady to Punani, covering a stretch of 15 km. The initiative aimed at promoting environmental awareness, fostering civil-military cooperation, and enhancing the well-being of the local community in the Eastern Theatre.
The programme concluded successfully, marking a meaningful Sri Lanka Army contribution to the global World Cleanup Day effort under the Clean Sri Lanka initiative.
