TROOPS OF THE 7TH FIELD ENGINEER REGIMENT CARRIED OUT RESCUE OPERATIONS AND PROVIDED RELIEF TO AFFECTED CIVILIANS

Due to the heavy rainfall, around 565 civilians affected by severe flooding at the Polonnaruwa Public Sports Complex and in the Nelumwewa and Gallella areas under the SFHQ (E) were rescued, including several pregnant women. Arrangements were subsequently made to safely relocate the rescued civilians to displacement camps at the Polonnaruwa Technical College.

Furthermore, on 28 November 2025, the 7th Field Engineer Regiment deployed 02 × 15 troops to provide relief to approximately 3,000 civilians in the displacement camps, while a boat team was deployed to continue evacuating people from the affected areas.
