SINHALA AND HINDU NEW YEAR CELEBRATIONS HELD AT SFHQ (EAST)

To mark the Sinhala and Hindu New Year, the Security Forces Headquarters (East) organized a series of traditional cultural events, including a Sinhala cultural programme and a friendly cricket tournament, on 14 April 2026 at the Security Forces Headquarters (East).

In line with the New Year celebrations, a vibrant musical evening featuring melodious songs was also held, adding colour to the occasion alongside the conduct of traditional Sinhala New Year rituals and games.

The Commander, Security Forces Headquarters (East), Major General JSBW Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc, graced the occasion together with senior officers, officers, other ranks, civil staff and their family members.

The event was organized with the objective of enhancing the morale and welfare of Army personnel by providing recreational opportunities, while simultaneously preserving and promoting traditional customs and cultural values associated with the Sinhala and Hindu New Year.
