SECURITY FORCES (EAST) ORGANIZE A SUCCESSFUL DINERS’ CLUB EVENT

The Security Forces Headquarters (East) recently hosted a Diners’ Club event, on 11 July 2025, featuring Major General N. Udawatta (Retd) as the guest speaker. The event focused on key military experiences and leadership insights, particularly centered around the final battle led by the 59 Infantry Division, its offensive operations, and the leadership challenges encountered during the humanitarian operation.

Major General Udawatta shared valuable insights on how he led the 59 Division during a critical phase of the war. His presentation captivated the audience as he discussed coordination with other military services, operational command at the divisional level, and strategies for overcoming challenges and threats during high-intensity combat situations. His experience-based reflections provided practical knowledge for current officers preparing to face future threats.

The Diners’ Club was conceptualized and organized under the guidance of Commander Security Forces (East), Major General J.S.B.W. Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc, with the aim of imparting operational knowledge and leadership experience to officers under the Security Forces (East).

The event commenced with a welcome speech by Major Nuwan Liyanage psc SLLI, General Staff Officer 2 (Operations), Security Forces (East). This was followed by an introduction speech by Colonel Manjula Liyanage, Colonel General Staff, Security Forces (East). The evening concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Colonel Chaminda De Silva psc, Commander, 222 Infantry Brigade.

The event was attended by the General Officers Commanding of the 22 and 24 Infantry Divisions, senior staff officers of the Security Forces Headquarters (East), brigade commanders, commanding officers,and approximately 80 officers in total.

This knowledge-sharing initiative served as a valuable professional development opportunity, reinforcing leadership and strategic planning among current and future military leaders.
