THE NEWLY APPOINTED GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING OF 24 INFANTRY DIVISION ASSUMED THE DUTIES

Major General K W Jayaweera USP psc assumed duties as the 17th General Officer Commanding of the 24 Infantry Division on 26 August 2025 at the Headquarters 24 Infantry Division, Ampara.

Upon his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by the Deputy General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division at the main entrance to the camp premises and accorded a Guard Turnout in line with the military traditions. Subsequently, Colonel General Staff ushered him to the saluting dais to take the salute of the Guard of Honor presented by the troops of 18 VIR.

Then the Senior Officer placed his signature in a formal document symbolizing the assumption of duties. Further, the programme was included the planting of a sapling to mark the occasion, group photograph, a troop address, all rank tea party and an interactive season with all officers of 24 Infantry Division.

Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks of the Divisional Area attended the event.
