THE NEWLY APPOINTED 233 INFANTRY BIRGADE COMMANDER ASSUMED DUTIES

Colonel S J M N S Perera USP assumed duties as the 31st Brigade Commander of 233 Infantry Brigade on 10 September 2025. The ceremony commenced in the morning with religious rites, rituals, and formal military ceremonials.

The ceremony took place at Headquarters 233 Infantry Brigade premises, Colonel S J M N S Perera USP then reviewed the Guard Turnout presented by the troops of 7th Battalion the Gemunu Watch.

Following the military formalities, a brief ceremony had been arranged to invoke blessings on his new appointment at the Brigade Commander’s office. He symbolically accepted the office by signing an official document.

As part of the ceremonial activities, Colonel S J M N S Perera USP posed for a few group photographs with Commanding Officers and his staff and planted a Mango sapling. He also spared a few minutes to address the soldiers who were presented to greet him.

Later, the Brigade Commander received a briefing about the Area of Responsibility (AOR) during a staff briefing.

Commanding Officers, Officers of Brigade Headquarters and Other Rankers attended the ceremony to pay their respect to the newly appointed Brigade Commander of the 233 Infantry Brigade.
