The newly appointed General Officer Commanding of 22 Infantry Division, Major General WBMKGK Weerasekara WWV RWP RSP USP AUSWC psc conducted a field visit to the most sensitive places of Mawil Aru and Neelapola-Kanguweli areas to assess the impact of recent adverse weather. Accompanied by the Brigade Commander of the 222 Infantry Brigade and the Commanding Officer of the 9th Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.
The GOC obtained firsthand insight into the ground situation and evaluated the operational readiness of the troops. During the visit, senior officers reviewed response measures and interacted with employed tps and Irrigation officials to ensure effective disaster relief and tactical preparedness remain maintained as weather conditions evolve.
