DRY RATION BAGS DISTRIBUTED AMONG 90 FAMILIES IN PUNANI VILLAGE

Under the instructions of the General Officer Commanding, 23 Infantry Division, a community welfare programme to distribute dry ration bags among low-income families was successfully conducted on 20 April 2026 at the Pancha Maha Viharaya, Punani.

During the programme, 90 families residing in Punani village received dry ration bags, each valued at Rs. 2,500.00. The sponsorship for this humanitarian initiative was generously provided under the concept of Mr. Prasad Loku Balasuriya, founder of Athahitha, in line with the ‘Humanity Relief Yatra’ series, marking its 37th phase.

The event was attended by Major General G P P Kulathilaka ndc, General Officer Commanding of the 23 Infantry Division, along with the Civil Coordination Officer, Dr. Amila Nalinda Silva (a former student of Royal College, Colombo), Dr. Nadeera Jayawardena, and several government officials of the Punani village.
