On 01 January 2025 at 1500 hr 8th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard, upon a request from the Thirukkovil Divisional Secretary, removed a large Kaayatree with a risk of falling on to the Telephone line and a housin the Thambetta areadue to adverse weather condition, by 01x10 Troops of the 8th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard, with the cooperation of members of the Telecom Company - Akkarepattuand support of residents in the area.
This Operation was conducted under the direction of theGenaral Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division Maj Gen HCL Galappathti RSP USP, and Overlooking Brigade Commander 242 Infantry Brigade Col TKD Dharmasena RWP RSP with the close supervision ofCommanding Officer 8 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard Maj EDSK Deniyaya.
