In order to assess the potential disaster situation in the Security Force (East) Area of Responsibility due to the anticipated adverse weather conditions, the Commander Security Forces (East), Major General J.S.B.W. Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc, conducted an observation tour on 09 January 2026 to review the preparedness of Security Forces operating in the Security Force (East) Area of Responsibility.
Initially, the readiness of the WMZ armoured vehicles of the 3 Mechanized Infantry Regiment earmarked for emergency rescue operations was inspected. This was followed by an inspection of the Kiran area, the 11 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, and other locations frequently exposed to disaster situations, including disaster-prone areas within the region. Major General J.S.B.W. Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc, together with a group of senior officers and officers, participated in this inspection program.
