ASSUMPTION OF DUTIES BY THE BRIGADE COMMANDER OF 231 INFANTRY BRIGADE

Brigadier S D K W M M I Weliwita RWP RSP USP psc assumed duties as the 5th Brigade Commander of the 231 Infantry Brigade on 26 August 2025 at Hingurakgoda.

The newly appointed Brigade Commander formally assumed command during a ceremonial programmed held in accordance with military traditions. The proceedings commenced with the review of the Guard Turnout conducted by the troops of the 7th Light Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery, followed by a brief religious observance, signifying the spiritual sanctification of the occasion.

The Brigade Commander placed his signature on the official document, symbolizing the formal assumption of duties. As part of the day’s programmed, a ceremonial planting of a Ceylon Ironwood tree took place within the camp premises a symbolic gesture of growth and continuity.

The day's events continued with group photographs, All Ranks Tea, and a Troop Address. During the Troop address, the Brigade Commander shared his vision and expectations with the troops under his command.
