Due to the heavy rains that caused severe flooding in the villages of Ranhelagama, Ellakotaliya, Salpitigama, and Vijayapura under the SFHQ (E) Command, 02 x 40 troops of the 3 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment rescued a group of residents who were stranded by the flood waters.
A total of 57 individuals (35 males, 15 females, and 07 children) belonging to 21 affected families were rescued. All those rescued were safely relocated to designated safe locations, and no additional casualties have been reported.
