The 24 Infantry Division recently marked its 11th anniversary with a variety of events, showcasing its commitment to community service and spiritual observance. Under the esteemed guidance of Major General WLAC Perera RWP RSP USP, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the division, several significant activities were organized across different dates to commemorate this milestone. The celebrations began with a Bodhi Pujawa held on October 26, where members of the division engaged in prayer and meditation to seek blessings. This was followed by an almsgiving ceremony for eleven monks on October 30, which served as a gesture of gratitude and reverence.
On 2 November 2024 notable events took place. The first was a Kovil Pujawa at the Vilavadi Vinayagar Kovil in Malwatha, a significant cultural observance that fostered community ties. Simultaneously, a service at St. Ignatius Church in Amparawas was conducted, further exemplifying the division's commitment to interfaith harmony. Continuing the celebration, the Inter-Branch Cricket Tournament took place at the Headquarters of the 24 Infantry Division on 12 November 2024. This friendly competition aimed to strengthen camaraderie and team spirit among the personnel of the division.
Finally, the month of festivities culminated in an arms-giving ceremony for the Elders’ Home in Ampara on 20 November 2024 This event underscored the division's dedication to social responsibility and care for the elderly, reflecting the values of compassion and service that the 24 Infantry Division stands for.
