231 Infantry Brigade and 12 Gamunu Watch Conduct Environmental Cleaning and Tree Planting Program

Under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces (East), Major General PR Pathiravithana, USAWC psc, and the instructions of the General Officer Commanding of the 23 Infantry Division, troops of the 231 Infantry Brigade and the 12 Gamunu Watch conducted an environmental cleaning and tree planting initiative on 18 March 2025.

The troops focused their efforts in the Manampitiya area, carrying out garbage removal, roadside cleaning, and tree planting. The initiative aimed to enhance environmental sustainability and community well-being. Military personnel and civilians actively participated, fostering a spirit of cooperation and responsibility towards a cleaner and greener environment.

The event was attended by the General Officer Commanding of the 23 Infantry Division, the Commander of the 231 Infantry Brigade, the Commanding Officer, senior officers, officers, other ranks, and civilians. Their collective efforts underscored the commitment of the Sri Lanka Army to environmental conservation and community service.
