221 INFANTRY BRIGADE MARKS ITS 15TH ANNIVERSARY WITH A SERIES OF COMMEMORATIVE EVENTS

The 221 Infantry Brigade celebrated its 15th Anniversary at the Brigade Headquarters, under the leadership of Colonel EWRSB Ehelepola USP USACGSC, Commander of the 221 Infantry Brigade on 16 March 2025. Coinciding with the 15th Anniversary, religious activities including a BodiPooja and invoking blessings by the Buddhist, Hindu, Islamic, and Christian clergy took place. These religious events provided a moment of spiritual reflection and gratitude, for the fallen war heroes. This was followed by a tree-planting program at the “Pichchamal Viharaya”. In addition, a cricket tournament was held to enhance the goodwill between the soldiers and the civilian population in the area.

Following the military traditions, the program of events culminated on 16 March 2025 with a Guard Turnout, planting a sapling, group photograph, and troop address. This was followed by the opening of the new accommodation/office building for SLCMP personnel and the multi,-,function facility at the NCO’s club. Afterward, the Brigade Commander joined the troops for an All-Ranks Lunch, symbolizing the close bonds within the 221 Inf Bde and fostering a sense of camaraderie among Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers, and civilians.
