The initiative was made possible through the generous financial contributions of Dr.Kaminda Kankanige and Mr.Anuranga Gunathilake, philanthropists residing in the United Kingdom, whose support was coordinated by the Brigade Commander. As part of the programme, nutrient packs valued at Rs. 8,000 each were distributed to twelve pregnant mothers from low-income families in the WadaliKulam Grama Niladhari Division, Kuchchaweli.
This donation formed part of the Brigade’s on going community-support efforts, highlighting the Sri Lanka Army’s commitment to enhancing local wellbeing in addition to its core security responsibilities. Local health officials commended the initiative, emphasising that improved maternal nutrition significantly benefits both mothers and new-borns.
The event was attended by the Medical Officer of the Kuchchaveli Hospital, local officials, invitees, and family members of the beneficiaries.
