20THBATTALION OF THE GAJABA REGIMENT ORGANIZES A BLOOD DONATION PROGRAMME

In a commendable display of humanitarian service, the 20th Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment successfully conducted a “Blood Donation Programme” on 29 April 2026, under the guidance of General Officer Commanding of 22 Infantry Division and Commander 221 Infantry Brigade. The initiative was spearheaded and meticulously supervised by the Commanding Officer of the 20th Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment, who ensured the smooth coordination of the event.

The battalion collaborated with the Medical Team of Cluster Blood Bank Padaviya, whose professional support enabled the efficient collection and handling of blood donations. The programme resulted in the collection of a remarkable 87 units of blood, contributing significantly to the national blood reserve and potentially saving many lives.

A total of 87 personnel voluntarily participated to donate blood, showcasing a strong sense of social responsibility and solidarity. Among the donors were02x50soldiers and 04 civilian staff members from 20th Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment, 01x03 soldiers from 221 Inf Bde, 11 soldiers from the 1st Battalion of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, 11 sailors from SLNS Ranweli and SLNS Walagamba and 05 Police Officers from Pulmoddai Police station. This event stands as a testament to the Sri Lanka Army’s continued commitment to community service and its role in supporting national healthcare needs.
