Lieutenant Colonel AMP Amarasinghe RWP RSP USP psc has joined the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet of General Sir John Kotalawala Defence University to the Intake 17 on 08 August 1999. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 08 August 2001 and was posted to the 1st Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

Major ARGCB Jayawardana RSP assumed duties as the 5th Commanding Officer of 17th (V) Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 03 March 2022. A brief ceremony was held which included religious observances, planting of a tree sapling, a troop address and an All-Rank tea.
Major ARGCB Jayawardana RSP has joined the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet of Sri Lanka Military Academy to the Regular Intake 48 on 02 February 1998. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 17 February 2000 and was posted to the 1st Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

Major KAUR Kaluarachchi RSP assumed duties as the 8th Commanding Officer of 18th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 02 March 2023. A brief ceremony was held which included religious observances, planting of a tree sapling, a troop address and an All-Rank tea.
Major KAUR Kaluarachchi RSP has joined the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet of Sri Lanka Military Academy to the Regular Intake 53 on 11 January 2001. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 28 June 2003 and was posted to 6th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

A sum of one hundred thousand rupees was donated to Corporal Liyanaarachchi of 8 VIR in order to complete his partially constructed house, which was a dream for him under the extreme economic difficulties, by Madam Kumudu Manage, the President of the VIR Seva Vanitha Branch, at a brief ceremony held at the Regimental Centre VIR on 17 February 2023.

Construction of a new cafeteria, a much needed facility at the Archers Cricket Ground and the Indoor Stadium was initiated by the Headquarter Battalion of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment under the directions of the Director General General Staff Sri Lanka Army Headquarters, Commander 1 Corps and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Nishantha Manage on 18 February 2023.

Having served in the Regimental Centre since 22 November 2021, Brig Prabath Kodituwakku, the 17th Centre Commandant of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment relinquished his duties on 17 February 2023. The outgoing Centre Commandant was accorded a ceremonial Guard Turnout, and a ceremonial Parade in appreciation of his service to the regiment, where he addressed all the troops and extended his thanks to all members of the Regimental Centre.

Under the requests made by the Chief Monk of Katupathwewa Bodhirukkarama temple and Honourable Pahalahalmillewa Rathanasara Thero of Sri Sucharitha Dhamma School, essential stationary items and class room equipment required for the forthcoming school term were donated to 154 students by the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 12 February 2023.

Under the direct guidance of Director General General Staff Sri Lanka Army Headquarters, Commander 1 Corps and Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Major General Nishantha Manage, and under supervision and coordination of the Regimental Centre Commandant, the newly renovated Guard Room and Sergeants’ Mess accommodation building built according to modern standards was ceremonially declared open on 11 February 2023 at the Regimental Centre premises.

Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, following its’ traditions and military formalities with the blessings of the Director General General Staff Sri Lanka Army Headquarters, Commander 1 Corps and Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Major General Nishantha Manage and supervision of the Centre Commandant Brigadier Prabath Kodithuwakku, saluted the newly promoted Brigadier S J Kariyakarawana RWP RSP USP on 11 Feb 2023 in a fitting ceremony, held at the VIR Regimental Centre, Boyagane.

Under the instructions of Director General General Staff Sri Lanka Army Headquarters, Commander 1 Corps and Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Major General Nishantha Manage, and with close supervision of Commander 58 Infantry Division and 581 Infantry Brigade, troops of 5th battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment conducted a Shramadana Campaign to remove non-biodegradable materials around the Sri-Padha religious site on 26 January 2023.
