  • FELICITATION FOR THE OUT GOING CENTRE COMMANDANT SRI LANKA LIGHT INFANTRY BRIGADIER TCK PEIRIS RWP RSP

    The one of the dedicated senior officers belongs to SLLI insignia, who was truly inspired the leadership for the Regimental Centre and under Command Battalions, Brigadier TCK Peiris RWP RSP the Centre Commandant – RHQ SLLI handed over the officer on 17, (Saturday) September 2022.

  • SLLI Team Wins 6th consecutive Overall Championship of National Para Athletic Meet.

    The Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Para Athletic Team secured the overall championship of the National Para Athletic Meet 2022 organized by the National Para Athletic Federation. The Athletic Meet was held on 28 and 29 June 2022 at Sugathadasa Stadium Colombo. Around hundred of sportsmen representing from 28 teams participated in this Athletic Meet. Athletes of the team SLLI won 14 Gold medals, 13 Silver Medals and 6 Bronze medals and secured the championship as 6th consecutive times in the history.

  • BRIG WP WIJAYARATHNA HONOURED IN FAREWELL SALUTE

    Sri Lanka Light Infantry bade farewell to Brig WP Wijayarathna with a formal farewell ceremony, held at the SLLI Regimental Centre premises at Panagoda on 15 January 2022 while complying with the COVID 19 safety regulations. Farewell formalities commenced with a ceremonial Guard turnout in compliance with military traditions, subsequently he paid a visit to the SLLI war hero monument and made a floral tribute to the brave combatants who made the supreme sacrifice for the freedom of the nation.

  • BRIG MP GUNASINGHE RSP HONOURED IN FAREWELL SALUTE

    A farewell ceremony for Brig MP Gunasinghe RSP was held at the Regiment Centre on the occasion of his retirement after completion of 35 years of successful service in Sri Lanka Army. The traditional event unfolded on 02 January 2022 at Regimental Centre, Sri Lanka Light Infantry with the participation of number of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.

  • BRIG DAK DISSANAYAKE WWV RWP RSP HONOURED IN FAREWELL SALUTE

    On the eve of his retirement Brigadier DAK Dissanayake was invited to the home of Sri Lanka Light Infantry on 29th January 2022. Brigadier DAK Dissanayake has rendered a noble service to the Sri Lanka Army (SLA), holding major command and staff appointments in different areas of the country more than 31 years. During his tenure as the Centre Commandant and Deputy Commandant he has played an important role for the improvement of the development process of the Sri Lanka Infantry Regiment. Further, as the Brigade Commander of 112 Infantry Brigade he played a pivotal role. This Senior Officer has followed number of local and foreign courses on to his account, meantime he is holding a Master’s in Business Management

  • BRIG KN PERERA HONOURED IN FAREWELL SALUTE

    On the eve of his retirement Brigadier KN Perera was invited to the home of Sri Lanka Light Infantry on 20th August 2021. Brigadier KN Perera has rendered a noble service to the Sri Lanka Army (SLA), holding major command and staff appointments in different areas of the country more than 35 years and upon his arrival at the Regiment was accorded a Guard turnout in compliance with military traditions, subsequently he paid a visit to the SLLI war hero monument and made a floral tribute to the brave combatants who made the supreme sacrifice for the freedom of the nation. Minutes later, Brig KN Perera addressed officers and other ranks and shared some of his experience gained during the distinguished career in the SLA, Meanwhile he was invited to a partaking of tea where he shared a light moment with fellow officers. Few senior council members and the regimental staff were also presented on this occasion, to bid farewell to Brigadier KN Perera.

  • BRIG IGRG BOGODAWATTA HONOURED IN FAREWELL SALUTE

    On the eve of his retirement Brigadier IGRG Bogodawatta was invited to the home of Sri Lanka Light Infantry on 20th August 2021. Brigadier IGRG Bogodawatta has rendered a noble service to the Sri Lanka Army (SLA), holding major command and staff appointments in different areas of the country over 34 years and upon his arrival at the Regiment was accorded a Guard turnout in compliance with military traditions, subsequently he paid a visit to the SLLI war hero monument and made a floral tribute to the brave combatants who made the supreme sacrifice for the freedom of the nation. Minutes later, Brig IGRG Bogodawatta addressed officers and other ranks and shag some of his experience gained during the distinguished career in the SLA, Meanwhile he NA .1 invited to a partaking of tea where he shared a light moment with fellow officers.

  • HOMELESS SOLDER IS AWARDED A NEW HOUSE

    The housing project was initiated under the conceptual notion by the Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Maj Gen TJ Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu, with the prime intend of donate a fully fledge house for houseless soldiers has been commenced and another house was donated to a selected houseless Non Commissioned Officer (NCO), S/2D03268 Cpl Piyanandana WM belongs to 2nd Battalion SLLI. The house was constructed under the supervision of the Commanding Officer of 2nd Battalion SLLI with the man power cl his under commanded troops in Mulleriyawa. The constructing cost of the house was around 1.4 Million and footed by the troops of 2nd Battalion SLLI. The house was formally vested to the said NCO at the auspicious time by Brig C Ranaweera RWP RSP ndu, a Senior Council Member SLLI and the Director of Directorate of Veterans Affairs in accordance with the invitation was made by the particular Commanding Officer.

  • OUT GOING COLONEL MHMLSK WEERASEKARA SRI LANKA LIGHT INFANTRY SALUTED

    Colonel MHMLSK Weerasekara was born on 23 October 1962 at Kandy. He was a product of Alawathugoda Central Collage Kandy and he was very clever student in both academic and sports. He was very popular sportsmen in school especially in athletic.
